We've had a wonderful time. The cottage and gardens are beautiful, and the local area and its surroundings are lovely. We shall be recommending this to our friends and family. Thank you. (July 2003)
The cottage and its garden have given us all the home comforts and more. A great location for exploring the local countryside and an ideal place for visiting interesting places like Dorchester and Shaftesbury. (August 2003)
We sought a haven of peace and tranquillity midst the mayhem of everyday working life. We found EXACTLY what we were looking for - here! Thank you for providing such a place. The garden as everyone says is delightful but the cottage is just perfect. Spacious and clean! Not forgetting the wealth of reading material. We needn't have set foot off the property all week. Sheer bliss! (July 2004)
The Old Stables are the best self-catering accommodation we've ever had the good fortune to book! Great decor - immaculately clean - fabulous garden and patio - everything you could possibly need in the kitchen (including a very considerate pint of milk, tea, coffee, biscuits etc.) I'm sorry I didn't manage to put all this in the visitors' book. We are so taken with The Old Stables (and Child Okeford) that we have to ask if you will accept a booking for next year. (July 2005)

We've had a wonderful time and the cottage and gardens were more than we expected. It's a real home from home. (July 2005)

A lovely cottage in a peaceful well served village community, with many walks straight from the cottage. This has got to be the best equipped and well presented holiday accommodation we have stayed in, and suitable for all ages. (August 2007)
As two couples we were already at two other cottages in South UK. Booked from the Netherlands, we enjoyed this quiet "stable" most! Full equipped and with a fine terrace and garden! (August 2008)
After many visits to Dorset, and staying in numerous cottages, The Old Stables has to be the best. The level of equipment supplied and cleanliness is first class. Hope to be back next year. (August 2008)

And even a poem...........!

What a lovely little cottage
In a place where we can chill
And when our son-in-law came visiting
He climbed up Hambledon Hill.

His wife and our dear grandchildren
Also came that day
They all had such a lovely time
And wished that they could stay.

It truly is a special place
And the garden is superb
And when we're sitting on the patio
No sound of anything can be heard.

So thank you for a lovely week
We've not a single moan
We've been out and about - done lots of things
And to this cottage we've come home. (August 2004)

Have thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to The Old Stables. It was recommended to us and we were not disappointed! It's a real home from home and what a beautiful garden! The walks around the village are excellent and the views from Hambledon Hill really worth the climb. (August 2009)
Dorset is a beautiful place to visit and we have enjoyed our stay here. The cottage is comfortable and the facilities excellent. The garden and outside area are enchanting. (July 2010)
A delightful cottage which has suited our needs perfectly. The garden patio is lovely and quite sheltered so the perfect place for a lazy day when warm and sunny. Child Okeford is well endowed with places to eat, shop and walk. A place to definitely revisit. (August 2010)
A really peaceful retreat away from the "madding crowd". Thanks for sharing your lovely cottage and garden.(August 2011)
It has been a great base for all our visiting and a peaceful and relaxing retreat for when the children are in bed. (August 2011)
Our first visit here, and there is only one word to describe it - SUPERB! (July 2013)
We spent a great week in this lovely cottage and beautiful garden! We went to Durdle Door, Weymouth, Stonehenge, Salisbury, Bath and Poole and enjoyed all these lovely place. (August 2013. Visitors from Italy)
We have had a lovely holiday in your delightful, comfortable, well appointed and generously stocked home. Thank you for the excellent information pack, we enjoyed some of the walks and tried out the local hostelries. (July 2014)
Thank you for sharing your absolutely beautiful garden and lovely cottage. It was a home away from home and we had such beautiful weather we just couldn't bring ourselves to leave this magical garden with exquisite scents & blooms. (July 2016)
Very comfortable and relaxing. Had our meals outside every night enjoying the garden and the night air. (August 2016)
As we came into the cottage our first feeling was very positive because it's look better in reality than with the photos ! This cottage is big enough for a four family people, it has all what you need and it is well equiped. It is also very clean, everything works perfect, we really felt like at home and we would stay longer ! Sue was not in at the moment and we get a warm welcome from Lesley who explain us all what we needed to know. The cottage is really not far from the post office/store where you can buy quiet everything you need like good bread for example, and not far from a good pub. You can go to both by feet. We have just one regret, the weather was not good enough to enjoy as much as we wanted the very lovely garden, this one is really beautiful and participate to the charm of this cottage. Child Okeford is also well placed to enjoy and visit many things from Dorset. I really recommend this cottage, Philippe from France. (August 2017)
